EVENING CLASSES
EVENING CLASSES FOR CAMBRIDGE FIRST CERTIFICATE AND CAMBRIDGE ADVANCED EXAMS
We run regular evening courses for Au Pairs and other resident foreigners who wish to study for the Cambridge First Certificate or the Cambridge Advanced examination. We have had many years of experience in helping students achieve success in these exams through these very popular classes.
Cambridge Advanced: Mondays 6.15. – 7.45pm
Cambridge First Certificate: Tuesdays 6.15 – 7.45pm

HOMESTAYS
Premier English can provide you with a total immersion course in English. You stay in a high quality English home with an educated, friendly family. The courses offered are Business English Homestays, Preparation for Examinations and General English. You do not have to travel to classes because the teacher comes to your accommodation to deliver three hours or more of formal tuition per day from Monday to Friday. Afternoon activities can be arranged, such as golf, sailing, flying light aircraft or microlights, horse-riding or tennis. For the rest of the time, you are invited to participate in all the normal family outings and activities.
The host families are good cooks and have lovely homes, for example, typical, large English country houses. Many of these houses have private swimming pools and/or tennis courts, some have their own horses and one has a river running through the grounds, where you can fish or canoe.
BUSINESS ENGLISH HOMESTAYS
These are ideal for busy professionals. Homestays are an excellent way to improve your English quickly. Before you start your course we will ask you to complete a needs analysis so that we can tailor the tuition to match your requirements. You can choose from options such as:
- Effective presentations
- Describing products/services
- Describing graphs, diagrams, figures
- Meetings - exchanging information, asking/answering questions, agreeing/disagreeing, checking details, obtaining clarification
- Business correspondence - e-mails, letters, faxes
- Telephone techniques
- Social English - formal and informal
We will also work on grammar; vocabulary; fluency; listening and speaking skills, according to your needs.
The host family provides you with the opportunity to hear and practise social English and to experience the English way of life and culture. We can organise English tuition in the mornings and an activity such as golf, sailing, horse-riding; light aircraft/microlight flying or tennis in the afternoons.
It is also possible for a student to be accompanied by a non-student guest who would pay for only accommodation and three meals per day.
PREPARATION FOR EXAMINATIONS HOMESTAYS
We offer short courses for individuals or groups wishing to take any of the RSA Cambridge examinations in English as a foreign language, the most popular of which are the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) and the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English(CAE). We also offer courses to prepare students for IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC examinations. In addition, we are experienced in coaching for the Business English Certificates (BEC).Each course is designed as an opportunity to revise and practise skills and techniques appropriate to the particular examination. This is a useful course to take shortly before the examination. It is an invaluable opportunity to learn about the structure of the examination, practise relevant techniques and to improve on any areas of difficulty. It covers the following:
- Practice in reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar at an appropriate level
- Examination techniques
- Mock examination
- Feedback on mock examination
- Extra practice on any areas of difficulty revealed by the mock examination
GENERAL ENGLISH COURSES HOMESTAYS
This course offers the opportunity to combine improving your English with staying in a high quality English home in this beautiful part of England. At Premier English, we specialise in General English Courses for individuals or groups of colleagues, family or friends who wish to study together. The lessons are tailored to the needs of the individual or group. The aim is to improve your English in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE (EAL) FOR SCHOOLS
We are very experienced in teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) in the Independent School Sector. The following are the main features of the service we offer. These can be tailored to the needs of the particular school.- For the past ten years, we have been teaching EAL at schools in this area. We teach one-to-one and groups. We currently have contracts with a number of private schools.
- Our staff are all qualified and experienced teachers of English as a Foreign Language. They all have degrees and many also have a PGCE or B Ed.
- EAL lessons can be provided either in school time or after school hours. We come to the school to give the lessons at times to fit in with the individual student’s timetable.
- We can provide anything from just one hour per week to a full week's teaching schedule. This can be for a period of a few weeks or a full academic year.
- We coach students in the grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, speaking and listening skills necessary for them to benefit fully from their education at an English school.
- If required, we provide lesson support. This can be particularly helpful when the student first arrives and has to deal with unfamiliar vocabulary, for example in Maths or History.
- We are experienced in supporting prep school pupils who are going to sit Common Entrance.
- We coach students for the all-important IELTS examination, which is needed by most international students who wish to apply to a British university.
- We also have a very good success rate with those who sit the RSA Cambridge EFL suite of examinations.
- We liaise with the examination centres to make all the necessary arrangements for Cambridge and IELTS examinations.
- We are happy to give our professional opinion of the abilities of prospective international students. We do this from written tests, tape recorded or video recorded interviews of the candidates or through a short interview with any students who come to view the school in person.
- We test, grade and advise on appropriate text books and work books for new students.
- We can also provide help and advice on your EAL library.
- The teachers are employed by Premier English Ltd. We therefore deal with all their income tax and NIC matters.
